I am at the barber shop and I have to wait for a hour and a half. I do not really want to read the usual lifestyle, fashion or gossip magazines in front of me. So, what else could I do? Writing a new post on this blog seems a pretty neat way to spend the time. Sit back and enjoy the reading then, because today I have some interesting thing to tell you about. Have I caught your attention? No? Well, good for you, you're safe!
What really led me to plan such a trip? There are many reasons, including the "Because America is cool! Case closed". Today, however, I am going to tell you the 5 main reasons that inspired me more than all the others. Some of them are pretty obvious, whil others a little less.
At the 5th place of the ranking we have: it's football time baby!
I'm passionate about American Football. I'm in love with the sport in 2011 and I can not help it. Unfortunately, we will visit the United States in the period in which both the NFL and the NCAA leagues are not running so I won't be able to watch any live game. However, I will visit some stadiums I and will buy a lot of gadgets, which they will probably require an additional luggage. I will boost the American economy!
4th place, wood medal for: how beautiful a city can be!
Professional distortion and unconditional love. This is what is for me the city. I am driven by a huge desire to visit the vast American cities with their suburbs and downtowns. I studied urban sustainability at the university for many years and American cities are often used as case studies. I can not wait to finally see what I have studied for many years only on books! I will bother my fellow companion of adventure with boring notions about sustainability and the environment for the whole duration of the trip!
On the lowest step of the podium, at the 3rd place, we find: American literature!
One name: Jack Kerouac. One book: On the road. For those who have read it, there is no need to explain why I mentioned it. For those who have not done it yet, well, do it as soon as possible! One of the most beautiful literary works I have ever read. And to think that the first time I even dropped it!!! What a sacrilegious act!!! Only this book then? That's it? Plain Banal! So here you are a couple of other pretty good writers. Cormac McCarthy, whom you surely heard of thank to books like "No Country for Old Men" and "The Road". Don DeLillo with "Americana". Kurt Vonnegut and his "Slaughterhouse #5" and Joe R. Lansdale, author of the trilogy "Drive-In".
2nd place, silver medal, for: strange things, places and facts!
Cities belonging to fundamentalist polygamous Mormons, Amish villages, Demolition Derby races, vampires from Louisiana, the prison of Alcatraz, museums of the worst art in the world, random forces of gravity, and so on. I could go on for hour and if you are not convinced yet that US are a characteristic country keep following our blog and you will soon change your idea! In the meantime click the ads around the website you we will may be able to take the plane to go back home!
And in conclusion, the winner is: A friend is a treasure!
People can't control their heart. I had to put my American friends at the top of the list! I have shared many beautiful experiences with them and I have not seen them in almost 2 years. They come from all over the United States and only a trip like this will give me the opportunity to meet as many as I can. Unfortunately I already now that I won't be able to visit them all! Can't wait to meet you all guys!

Sono dal barbiere e devo aspettare un'ora e mezza. Voglia di leggere i soliti GQ, Tutto Motori, Chi e Donna Moderna pari a zero. Che fare allora? Scriviamo qualcosa su questo blog dato che è un po' vuoto. Mettetevi comodi e godetevi la lettura perché oggi, come direbbe il buon vecchio Ste J (Steve Jobs), ho alcune cose molto interessanti di cui parlarvi. Ho catturato la vostra attenzione? No? Beh forse è meglio cosi, vi siete salvati!
Cosa mi ha realmente spinto a pianificare un simile viaggio? Vi sono numerose motivazioni tra cui anche quella “Perché l’America è figa! Punto!”. Oggi però ve ne elenco 5, alcune scontate, altre un po’ meno. Eccole qui.
Per la classifica di oggi, al 5° posto abbiamo: It's football time Baby!
Sono appassionato di Football Americano. Mi sono innamorato di questo sport nel 2011 e non riesco a farne a meno. Purtroppo visiterò gli Stati Uniti proprio nel periodo in cui sia il campionato professionistico che quello universitario sono fermi e non potrò gustarmi nessuna partita dal vivo. Visiterò comunque qualche stadio e acquisterò un bel po’ di gadget, i quali necessiteranno di un bagaglio aggiuntivo molto probabilmente. Farò girare l’economia americana!
Al 4° posto, medaglia di legno per: Ma com’è bella la città!
Deformazione professionale e amore incondizionato. Questo è ciò che è per me la città. Sono spinto da un enorme desiderio di visitare le enormi metropoli americane con i loro downtown e suburbia. Ho studiato sostenibilità urbana all’università per molti anni e in molti casi si prendono come esempio le città americane. Non vedo l’ora di vedere di persona quello che ho studiato per anni sui libri! Annoierò il mio seguace compagno di avventura con noiose nozioni di sostenibilità e ambiente per tutta la durata del viaggio. Tiè!
Entriamo nelle posizioni che scottano! 3° posto, il gradino più basso del podio va a: Letteratura Americana.
Un nome: Jack Kerouac. Un libro: On the road. Per chi lo ha letto non c'è bisogno di spiegazione alcuna. Per chi non lo ha ancora fatto, beh, fatelo! Una delle opere letterarie più belle che io abbia mai letto. E dire che la prima volta lo avevo pure abbandonato!!! Sacrilegio!!! Solo questo libro? Scontato! Quindi eccovi un altro paio di nomi niente male. Cormac McCarthy, di cui avrete sicuramente sentito parlare a causa di romanzi come “Non è un paese per vecchi” e “La strada”. Don DeLillo con “Americana”. Kurt Vonnegut e il suo “Mattatoio n.5”, per chiudere in bellezza con Joe R. Lansdale autore della trilogia “Drive-In”.
Secondo posto, medaglia d’argento, per: Cose, Luoghi e Fatti particolari.
Città di Mormoni fondamentalisti poligami, villaggi Amish, gare di Demolition Derby, vampiri della Louisiana, prigioni di Alcatraz come se piovesse, Musei della peggior arte mondiale, forze di gravità a caso, e così via. Potrei continuare per ore. Se non siete ancora convinti che gli Stati Uniti non siano un Paese particolare allora non vi resta fare altro che continuare a seguire il nostro blog e vedrete che, prima o poi, convinceremo. Nel frattempo cliccate le pubblicità così allenate l’indice e noi riusciremo forse a prendere l’aereo per ritornare a casa!!!
Infine, al primo posto, vincitore per distacco, troviamo: Chi trova un amico, trova un tesoro!
Al cuor non si comanda e loro non potevano che finire al primo posto della mia classifica. Ho numerosi amici che vivono negli Stati Uniti che non vedo da più di un anno ormai. Come passa il tempo. Ho passato con loro mesi fantastici condividendo un sacco di esperienze. Vengono da ogni parte degli Stati Uniti e solo un viaggio come questo mi da la possibilità di salutarne il più possibile. Purtroppo già so che non riuscirò a visitare tutti. Non vedo l’ora di riabbracciarvi ragazzi!!!
